Discovering New Physics at the LHC with Jets and Jet Substructure"

Speaker: David Krohn, Harvard University

When: September 27, 2010 (Mon), 12:30PM to 01:30PM (add to my calendar)
Location: PRB 595

This event is part of the HET Seminar Series.

Abstract:
“Most models of new physics invoke particles which decay
down to quarks and gluons. Discovering these new states at the LHC
will prove challenging because of the messy collider environment and
large Standard Model backgrounds. In my talk I will present new
results on the kinematic objects we use to make sense of this data
(jets), and a related procedure for looking at these objects in more
detail (jet substructure).”
