Abstract:
Little Higgs models often feature spontaneously broken extra global symmetries, which must also be explicitly broken in order to avoid massless scalars in the spectrum. Such explicit breaking might interfere with the requirement of collective symmetry breaking, leading to constraints on model building. Moreover, it may lead to new sources of CP violation from physical phases in the VEV. We discuss such relation between spontaneous CP violation and explicit breaking of global symmetries, in the context of SU(N)/SO(N) models.
