The existence of dark matter has been well established with overwhelming evidence, but its particle identity is still unknown. In this talk I will focus on the possibility to probe light, sub-GeV dark matter which has received significant attention in recent years. I will briefly review the current status of the field and discuss new theoretical ideas and experimental avenues for searching for light dark matter both directly and indirectly.
