Abstract: I start with a theorist's overview of recent LHCb data on b to s decays, some of which seem to hint at non-standard effects. After pointing out mundane explanations where applicable, I discuss how, rather remarkably, a consistent picture of non-standard effects is possible already within an effective-theory framework. I then focus on an LHCb measurement hinting at lepton-flavor non-universality effects beyond the SM. Such effects generally imply also lepton flavor violation at rates much higher than within the SM. In the context of a simple model I discuss a number of experimental tests of this possibility, at LHCb and elsewhere.
