Abstract: Physical Review Letters publishes close to 3000 letters per year, while maintaining its presence as the premier physics journal. In this talk I will shed light on the editorial process and policies at Physical Review Letters - - giving an ‘insiders view’ as to what goes on. I will try to address the many questions that are often raised by the thousands of authors, referees and readers. I will discuss upcoming projects and policy changes that may affect you and reflect on how PRL needs to orient itself in the rapidly changing landscape of scientific publishing.
