Abstract: Holographic duality maps the dynamics of certain strongly correlated quantum theories onto classical gravitational dynamics in one higher dimension. Therefore, many interesting and challenging problems in quantum field theory are accessible via simulations of classical general relativity in so called "holographic spacetimes." I will describe recent progress made in applying lessons from numerical relativity within the context of astrophysics to holographic spacetimes and showcase results for topics including quark-gluon plasma thermalization and superfluid turbulence.
