Abstract: In this talk, I will describe a simple, yet complete theory of dark matter called "Effective WIMPs." The utility of these models is a straightforward understanding of the relevant physics and sensitivity in dark matter searches at colliders, direct and indirect detection experiments. In these theories, the dark matter couples to Standard Model fermions through partner particles to the Standard Model fermions and I will discuss the cases of coupling to partners of quarks and charged leptons.
