Research Interests:

Femtosecond Infrared Spectroscopy

I work on femtosecond infrared spectroscopy on bimolecular systems, and on protein conformation and dynamics. I have also been working on the use of Quantum Cascade Lasers on phase transitions in liquid crystals and other soft condensed matter systems. In addition, I collaborate on the use of silicon nanowire sensors, developed in the Boston University Physics department, for sensing cancer biomarkers. Recently, I have begun working on the effect of femtosecond lasers on small nanoparticles and viruses, with the goal of studying the physics of non-equilibrium phenomena in biological and nanoscale systems.
