Phase Transition between A and B forms of DNA

Speaker: Dr. Devashish Sanyal, Gandhi Engineering College, Bhubaneswar,India

When: October 24, 2012 (Wed), 12:00PM to 01:00PM (add to my calendar)
Location: SCI 328
Hosted by: Sidney Redner

This event is part of the Biophysics/Condensed Matter Seminar Series.

Abstract: DNA exists in various conformations , the most stable among them A,B and the Z forms. The transition between  A and B forms of  DNA was first observed in 1953. In 2001, a group of experimentalists carried out a detailed study of the transition and came for the phase transition to determine the order of the transition theoretically.
