Nonlinearity meets Quantum Mechanics David Campbell My current research is the interface between nonlinear dynamics---you've probably heard this called "chaos" theory---and the quantum mechanical behavior of solid state systems and ultra--cold atoms---which you've probably NOT heard about. In this talk after providing some general overview comments, I will try to convey (briefly and mostly with pictures) the essence of a specific problem on which I am currently working: the role of Intrinsic Localized Modes (ILMs) in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped in an Optical Lattice (OL). I hope to convince you that this topic is not as scary as it sounds.
