Homework and Discussion Sections

Two thirds of the discussion grade comes from homework, which is due in the boxes downstairs at 5 pm on Fridays. Put your homework in the box with your TF's name on it.

You may discuss homework with other students, but the work you turn in should be your own.

One third of the discussion grade comes from the weekly conceptual exercises in discussion. There are no makeups - you must attend discussion to receive credit.

Most of the time in discussion will be spent handling questions about that week's homework assignment. To make these sessions as effective as possible, you should work through the problems prior to the discussion.

Labs

Labs are a required part of the course. All 9 labs count toward the lab grade, and you must complete at least 8 labs to pass the course.

Lab manual - Physics Intro I from the bookstore.

Lab reports - due at the end of each lab session. You can hand these in using neatly stapled looseleaf, or in a lab book (you will need two books).

Come prepared!

There is a pre-lab assignment that counts for 20% of the grade for that lab. These will be on our web site. These must be completed before you get to the lab, and handed in when you enter the lab.

Read the one-page handout describing what a lab report should look like.
