Collaborations

Our research is highly collaborative, and we work with a large number of colleagues around the world

• Dr. Steve Hulbert, National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS), Brookhaven National Laboratory
      We perform experiments on four beamlines at the NSLS: X1B, U13U, U5U, and U4A.  Our NSLS experiments are performed in close cooperation with Dr. Hulbert.

• Professor Joseph Nordgren, Department of Physics, Uppsala University, Sweden.
      Our soft x-ray emission spectrometer was designed and built in collaboration with Professor Nordgren, and we continue to collaborate closely.
  
  
• Dr. Peter Johnson, Department of Physics, Brookhaven National Laboratory
      Our ARPES studies of quasi-low dimensional conductors at the NSLS are performed in collaboration with Dr. Johnson.
  
  
• Dr. Jinghua Guo, Advanced Light Source (ALS), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
     SXE/RIXS experiments on beamline 7.0.1 at the ALS are performed in collaboration with Dr. Guo.
  
  
• Professor Martha Greenblatt, Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University
      Samples of single crystals of transition metal oxides are obtained via a close collaboration with Professor Greenblatt.
  
  
• Professor Theodore Moustakas, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University
     Professor Moustakas uses molecular beam epitaxy to grow many of the wide band gap semiconductors that we study.
  
  
• Professor Russell Egdell, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, Oxford University, Britain.
     We collaborate with Professor Egdell on the SXE study of transition metal oxides.
  
  
• Dr. Laurent Duda, Department of Physics, Uppsala University, Sweden.
     We collaborate with Dr. Duda from Professor Nordgren's group on the RIXS study of correlated materials
  
  
• Dr. Cormac McGuinness, Department of Pure and Applied Physics, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
     A former postdoc with the Novel Materials Lab, we continue to work with Dr. McGuinness on SXE/RIXS studies of a variety of materials.
  
  
• Dr. James Downes, School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
     Dr. Downes received his Ph.D. from BU for work in the Novel Materials Lab.  We continue to work with Dr. Downes on SXE studies of thin film organic semiconductors.
  
  
• Dr. Greg Hughes, School of Physical Sciences, Dublin City University, Ireland
     We collaborate with Dr. Hughes on the study of wide band gap semiconductor materials.
  
  
• Dr. John Schlueter, Argonne National Laboratory
     Samples of single crystals of organic superconductors are obtained via collaboration with Dr. Schlueter.
  
  
• Professor Anne Matsuura, Air Force Office of Scientific Research
     Dr. Matsuura is an Adjunct Professor of Physics at BU, associated with the Novel Materials Lab.
  
  
• Professor Julia Chan, Department of Chemistry, Louisiana State University
     Samples of single crystals of heavy Fermion Ce-compounds are obtained via collaboration with Professor Chan.
  
  
• Dr. Alexei Federov, Advanced Light Source (ALS), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
     ARPES experiments at the ALS are performed in collaboration with Dr. Federov.
  
  
• Dr. Alex Zakharov, MAXLAB Light Source, Lund University, Sweden.
     We perform photoelectron microscopy experiments at the MAXLAB synchrotron in collaboration with Dr. Zakharov.
  
  
• Our new SXE/RIXS/XPS endstation on beamline X1B at the NSLS was developed in collaboration with Professor D.P. Woodruff, Warwick University, and Dr. Karsten Horn, Fritz Haber Institute.
