Arrival and Lodging: Lodging information and reservations can be obtained through Mirtha Cabello (cabello@buphy.bu.edu, 617-353-2623). Most of you will stay at the Buckminster Hotel adjacent to the campus in Boston, MA:

The hotel may be reached by subway train (MBTA, also known as the "T"), which actually runs above ground after Kenmore Square. Be sure to take one of the Green Line trains which go through to Kenmore Square (NOT the E train). To arrive from the airport, take the Blue Line from Airport to Government Center, change to the Green Line outbound to Kenmore Square and your hotel. If you arrive late please take a taxi and keep the receipt.

Directions to the Physics Department: The Physics Department is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Simply walk along Beacon Street outbound. Just before the overpass over the Mass Pike, on the right hand side, you will come to the Metcalf Science and Engineering Center, a large brick building, building number 41 on the map. (Note that the Buckminster Hotel is at the triangular corner of Beacon St. and Brookline Ave.) The Physics front office is just inside the doors on Beacon St. (room 255). An alternative entrance is the main entrance to the Metcalf Science and Engineering Building at 590 Commonwealth Ave. If you are arriving Friday morning for the Mini-Symposium, please proceed to the Physics Research Building at 3 Cummington St., room 595 (unnumbered building next to numbers 34 and 37 on the map), just across Blandford Street from the Metcalf Science Center.

• Mini-symposium on Graduate Studies and Research - Physics Research Building, room 595, unnumbered building next to numbers 34 and 37 on the map. Below you will find a schedule of talks. There are links to materials which give a general description of the activities in each of the sub-topics. These links are a very good place to start learning about the ongoing research projects in the department.

From 2:15-3:30 we will have posters setup in the rooms listed below. Ask your graduate student hosts where to go. Feel free to circulate between locations, and see and talk to different faculty and students. You may spend your time visiting various labs and talking to faculty and research groups as you see fit. The schedule is below:

• From 3:30-5:00 we offer free time to meet with current faculty and graduate students and tour laboratories. Please arrange these with the faculty listed above during the poster session.
 
• It is suggested that you conclude your visit at 5 PM, return to the hotel and freshen up before dinner.

Friday Dinner: Dinner will be held at the home of Boston University Former Provost (and Physicist) David Campbell Friday evening. It is located at 10 Cottage Farm Rd, Brookline, MA. This is just a couple of blocks walk (10 minutes) from the Physics Department. The phone number is (617) 738-0178. Food will be served starting around 6:30, and we will finish around 10:00 PM.
