Fall 2003 - Homework Policies

Homeworks are due in the boxes in the basement at the southern end of the building on Friday afternoon by 4:10pm each week. Please place them in the slot labeled by PY354 and Rafael Hipolito. They will be graded by the Teaching Fellow, and returned the following Wednesday in discussion section.

You are expected to attempt some of the homework problems prior to your Wednesday discussion section. This is because you will not learn without doing homework, and you may be called upon to present a problem from your peer group discussions at the board.

Suggestions and requests:

  • Do your own work; consultations and group learning are fine, but the final submission should be your own.
  • Turn in assignments on time and complete. Late work will lose credits according to the following formula:
  • On time: 100% (full credit)
  • Late -- 1 week: 50%
  • If you need help try to utilize the office hours. When you need help at other times email questions to me and I will post answers on the Web. If you run into a stonewall, and you want to speak to me do not hesitate to call at almost any time.
  • You are encouraged to explore homework questions beyond the minimum requirements of the problem statements. Your observations and comments will be read, and extra credit given if you clearly have done extra work.
  • Computational tools are acceptable and encouraged (Matlab, Mathcad, Mathematica, etc.). You should submit your supporting Notebook, Toolbox formulation, etc. with the graphical or computational result, so your approach can be understood.
