In the "Motion with Constant Acceleration - MBL" experiment a cart on a horizontal track is connected via a string to a mass hanging from a pulley. The cart's acceleration is determined from graphs of the cart's position, velocity, and acceleration as a function of time.

In part of the experiment, you push the cart away from the pulley and release it. The cart moves along the track, stops for an instant, and then returns toward the pulley. This is shown in the simulation.

Sketch graphs of the cart's position, velocity, and acceleration for this motion, starting from just after you release the cart until just before it hits the pulley. Take the origin to be the point where you release the cart, and the positive direction to be away from the pulley.

To analyze the cart's motion properly you will need to sketch a free-body diagram of the cart, which is a diagram showing all the forces acting on the cart. See chapter 5 for examples.

Accounting for friction, which tends to oppose relative motion, means the free-body diagram changes when the cart changes direction. A few possible diagrams are shown below.

Which is the free-body diagram for the cart moving away from the pulley? FBD _____.
