  Demonstrate curvature of Sr 90 beta particles in a magnetic field with Geiger counter detector.
Tue pm Work through “p - m - e  experiment” - measure bubble chamber tracks and compute masses for muon and pion
  Investigate CD from James Gillies at CERN – “Particle Physics: A Keyhole to the Birth of Time”. Distribute CDs to participants.
  Show “Positron – electron annihilation” video.  
Wed am Particle physics at Fermilab Tevatron Darien Wood
Wed pm Work through Project Physics bubble chamber exercises (one for each pair of participants). Pairs report results to group.
Thu am Four veterans of previous QuarkNet workshops present ways in which they have altered their teaching to incorporate particle physics topics or perspectives.
Thu pm “OnScreen Particle Physics” - determine mass of unknown particles;
  Explore particle physics sites on World Wide Web.
