Availability (office hours): For Spring 2008: MWF 1-2 pm SCI 205, plus any other time that my door is open, which is most of the time. Known exceptions: MWF12-1 (PY105 lecture); Tu after 3:15 pm (Faculty Council etc); Wed 3-5 pm (NSCC, CAS meetings, Univ Council meetings)
Research Interests:
Departmental and University service activities only, since 1996.
Knowledgeable about Nonequilibrium Superconductivity and Josephson Junctions (1970’s at Harvard), Nanofabrication and Quantum Physics of Small Electronic Devices (1980-87 at Bell Labs Holmdel), High Tc Superconducting Thin Films (1987-1995 at Bell and then Boston University). Designed Optoelectronics Processing Facility (8th floor Photonics).

Biography:
In perpetual preparation, seeking publisher. Large advance expected. Will tell all about Theda Skocpol’s achievements and perennial mistreatment at Harvard.
I teach introductory physics courses (PY105, 106, 211, 212, 313) and serve as Faculty Director of the Physics Department. I negotiate who teaches what, and supervise course scheduling. I analyze departmental trends based on accumulated data, and deal with special projects regarding space, including grad student room assignments, renovation projects, and the forthcoming Summer II evacuation of SCI. I have been Chair of the Boston University Faculty Council (2001-3) and continue to serve on its Executive Committee, as well as Dean Search Committees and the like. I was chair of the University Council Committee on Faculty Policies during the multi-year period that we conducted a major restructuring of faculty policies as expressed in the Faculty Handbook.
