	ea that light sterile neutrinos might exist. In the first part of this talk
	 weinvestigate to what extent this hypothesis is supported by the data\,and
	 where the remaining tension lies. In the second part of the talk\,we explo
	re how sterile neutrinos can modify the phenomenology of direct and indirec
	t dark matter searches by mimicking or modifyinggenuine dark matter signals
	.
