SUMMARY:Boosting LHC discovery reach with jet substructure
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Jessie Shelton\, Yale University\n\nPart of the HET S
eminar Series.\n\nAbstract:\nNew approaches to the study of jets have chang
ed approaches for searches for new physics. I will show a simple app
lication of jet substructure variables which extends the sensitivity of the
LHC to composite color octets\, and argue that certain substructure variab
les can now be considered a standard part of the toolkit used to design sea
rches for new physics beyond the standard model.
