SUMMARY:Perspectives for Discovering New Physics at the CERN Large Hadron C

DESCRIPTION:Featuring Dr. John Ellis\, CERN\n\nPart of the HET Seminar Seri
	es.\n\nAbstract:\nOn March 30th\, 2010\, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LH
	C) started colliding protons at 7 TeV in the centre of mass\, exploring for
	 the first time a new range of energies and short distances inside matter. 
	Experiments at the LHC may reveal how elementary particles get their masses
	\, the nature of astrophysical dark matter and the behaviour of matter when
	 the Universe was a fraction of a second old. This talk reviews the perspec
	tives for discoveries at the LHC in 2011/2 and in the longer term.
