SUMMARY:Diquark correlations in baryons on the lattice
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Ron Babich\, Boston University\n\nPart of the HET Sem
	inar Series.\n\nThe notion of a diquark\, a correlated pair of quarks\, is
an old one that has been invoked to explain many aspects of hadron phenomen
ology. In this talk\, I will discuss what the lattice can tell us about the
strength of spatial correlations between quarks in baryons. I will present
results for fixed-gauge "wave functions" calculated in quenched lattice QC
D with the overlap Dirac operator\, as well as results for diquark mass dif
ferences. These indicate the presence of enhanced correlation in channels f
avored by the color-hyperfine interaction of QCD-inspired quark models.
