SUMMARY:Strongly correlated quantum systems: from electronic materials to c
	old atoms
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Eugene Demler\, Harvard\nHosted by: Anatoli Polkovnik
ov\n\nPart of the Physics Department Colloquia Series.\n\nRecent experiment
s demonstrated remarkable possibilities for creating strongly correlated sy
stems of cold atoms. In this talk I will review how one can use these syste
ms to address some of the long standing questions in condensed matter physi
cs\, such as the origin of high temperature superconductivity\, frustartion
in quantum magnetic systems and existence of spin liquid states. I will di
scuss how such systems provide new perspectives on strongly correlated syst
ems by allowing measurements of non-local correlation functions and analysi
s of far from equlibrium coherent dynamics.
