	y\n\nPart of the Condensed Matter Theory Seminar Series.\n\nAbstract: In th
	e same way as quarks are the elementary constituents of\ndifferent types of
	 particles\, spinons may be\nthought as the the elementary constituents of 
	different order parameters\nin a Mott insulator. Examples are the Neel and\
	nvalence-bond solid (VBS) order parameters. Like the quarks in ordinary\nma
	tter\, the spinons are confined in the\nNeel and VBS phases. There are situ
	ations where a second-order quantum\nphase transition between these two pha
	ses\noccurs and the system exhibits a quantum critical point (QCP). At the\
	nQCP the spinons are deconfined and determine completely the\nquantum criti
	cal behavior of the Mott insulator. In this talk I will\ndiscuss some impor
	tant aspects of\ndeconfined spinons at quantum criticality. For example\, I
	 will explain\nwhy the anomalous dimension of the Neel order\nparameter sho
	uld be large\, which is one of the main properties of\nsystems where the qu
	antum critical behavior is\ngoverned by deconfined spinons. The interplay b
	etween deconfined spinons\n and doping in a Mott insulator will also be\ndi
	scussed.
