SUMMARY:A simple\, stable model of brane inflation
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Rakhi Mahbubani\, Fermi Lab\n\nPart of the HET Semina
r Series.\n\nAbstract:\nThe search for a general framework for slow-roll in
flation is an ongoing\none\, with promising candidates in theories of extra
dimensions. However\nstabilizing the extra dimensions is sometimes proble
matic\, and can lead to\na loss of the desirable properties of these models
. Inspired by the fact\nthat point masses in 2+1 D do not gravitate\, we e
	xplore a simple framework\nfor inflation in 2 compact\, spherical\, stabili
zed extra dimensions. We\nfind that with a simple identification\, the eff
ective potential between\ntwo 3-branes in this background is generically fl
	at enough for inflation.
