SUMMARY:Floquet analysis of a quantum system with modulated periodic drivin
	g
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Viktor Novicenko \, Institute of Theoretical Physics
and Astronomy Vilnius University\n\nPart of the Condensed Matter Theory Sem
inar Series.\n\nWe consider a quantum system periodically driven with a str
ength which\nvaries slowly on the scale of the driving period. The analysis
is based on a\ngeneral formulation of the Floquet theory relying on the ex
tended Hilbert\nspace. It will be shown that the dynamics of the system can
be described in\nterms of a slowly varying effective Floquet Hamiltonian t
hat captures the\nlong-term evolution\, as well as rapidly oscillating micr
omotion operators.\nWe obtain a systematic high-frequency expansion of all
these operators. As\nan illustration of the importance of slowly varying pa
rameters\, we consider\na quantum-mechanical spin in an oscillating magneti
c field with a slowly\nchanging direction. The effective evolution of the s
pin is then associated\nwith non-Abelian geometric phases reflecting the ge
	ometry of the extended\nFloquet space.\n\n[1] Phys. Rev. A 95\, 023615 (201
