SUMMARY:Superconductivity in Doped Mott Insulators
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Mohit Randeria\, The Ohio State University\nHosted by
: Anatoli Polkovnikov\n\nPart of the Biophysics/Condensed Matter Seminar Se
ries.\n\nAbstract:\nI will begin with a discussion of particle-hole asymmet
ry in doped\nMott insulators and exact sum rules for one-particle spectrosc
opies:\nSTM and ARPES. I will then turn to a variational approach to gain\n
insight into the strongly correlated d-wave superconducting state of\nthe h
igh Tc cuprates. After a quick review of earlier work on the\nessential dif
ference between pairing and phase coherence in doped Mott\ninsulators\, I w
ill describe new results. These include: the notion of\nthe underlying Ferm
i surface in the superconducting state;\ncharacterizing the nodal quasipart
icles; doping and temperature\ndependence of the superfluid density and the
