SUMMARY:New Opportunities with Large-Area Picosecond Photo-Detectors
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Andrey Elagin\, University of Chicago\nHosted by: Ind
ara Suarez\n\nPart of the HEE Seminar Series.\n\nLarge-Area Picosecond Phot
o-Detectors (LAPPDTM) are 20×20 cm2 MCP-based photodetectors that are capa
ble of psec-level time resolution and sub-mm position resolution.\nI will d
iscuss applications of the correlated space-time measurements in particle p
hysics\nranging from particle identification by time-of-flight to searche
s for neutrinoless double\ndecay. I will report on the present status of th
e development of LAPPD. In particular\,\nI will focus on the Gen-II LAPPD t
hat has a monolithic ceramic detector base with an\nanode capacitively coup
led through a thin metal film to an application-specific readout\npattern
	 outside of the vacuum package.
