SUMMARY:Single top quark production with ATLAS
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Kevin Finelli\, Boston University\n\nPart of the HEE
Seminar Series.\n\nStudies of the top quark at the LHC provide a way to tes
t the\npredictions of perturbative QCD as well as search for new physics\ns
ignatures that may couple preferentially to massive particles. My talk\nwil
l focus on the production of a single top quark via electroweak\ninteractio
ns\, which presents challenges and opportunities distinct from\nthe dominan
t pair-production mode. I will review ATLAS analyses that\nplace stringent
tests on Monte Carlo models and PDF predictions\,\ndirectly measure the Vtb
CKM matrix element\, search for rare Standard\nModel processes\, and searc
h for anomalous couplings in the tWb vertex.
