SUMMARY:Vector boson production in association with jets at the LHC
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Daniel Arcaro\, Boston University\, Physics Departeme
nt\nHosted by: John Butler\n\nPart of the Departmental Seminars.\n\nZ boson
production in association with jets at the LHC is a major source of backgr
ound to standard model searches and it provides sensitive evaluation of the
precision of perturbative QCD predictions. Total and differential cross-se
ction measurements of the Z boson produced in association with jets in prot
on-proton collisions at the LHC are presented as a function of the jet tran
sverse momentum\, rapidity\, and multiplicity. The measurements are compare
d to next-to leading order QCD calculations and event simulations that util
ize matrix element calculations interfaced with parton showers.
