SUMMARY:Search for single top quark production in association with a Z boso
n using the ATLAS detector at 13 TeV
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Alex Sherman\n\nPart of the Departmental Seminars.\n\
nDissertation Committee: Kevin Black\, John Butler\, Kenneth Lane\, Edward
Kearns\, Karl Ludwig\n\nAbstract:\n\nIn this talk I present findings for t
he measurement of a previously unconfirmed Standard Model (SM) process\, pr
oviding further evidence that the electroweak sector of the SM is well beha
ved. In order to study more rare and exotic particle behavior at the LHC\,
SM background processes must be searched out\, measured\, and understood. T
o identify new signals\, all of the backgrounds for a process must be under
stood\, and one of the largest background sources remaining to be measured
is a weakly produced single top quark produced in association with a Z boso
	n. The measurement of such a process can be used in searches for flavor cha
nging neutral currents as well as possible direct production of yet undisco
vered particles. Here I present initial studies and results of such a searc
	h and measurement.
