SUMMARY:"The vicissitudes of dark matter at the LHC"
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Phil Harris\, Massachusetts Institute of Technology\n
Hosted by: John Butler\n\nPart of the HEE Seminar Series.\n\nDevelopments o
ver the past year have demonstrated the power of the LHC to compliment and\
, in some cases\, extend direct detection and galactic searches for dark ma
tter. We present a series of new searches for dark matter that represents t
he culmination of these developments. In addition to an order of magnitude
improvement in sensitivity to dark matter\, we discuss the impact of these
searches on our understanding of electroweak boson production. Finally\, w
e explore the future of dark matter searches. We consider a new class of se
arches using hadronically decaying bosons discussing new and we discuss the
future implications on dark matter models and\, more broadly\, hidden sect
ors. Can we make a definitive path to dark matter discovery?
