SUMMARY:Exploring Strain Physics in 2D Systems
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Jason Christopher\n\nPart of the Departmental Seminar
	s.\n\nDissertation Committee: Bennett Goldberg\, Anna Swan\, David Bishop\
, David Campbell\, Kenneth Lane \n\nAbstract: Two dimensional (2D) materia
ls can withstand an order of magnitude more strain than their bulk counterp
arts which can be used to dramatically change electrical\, thermal and opti
cal properties or even cause unconventional behavior such as generating pse
udo-magnetic fields (PMF). In this seminar I will discuss the origin of PMF
s and several experimental methods I am pursuing to experimentally realize
controllable PMFs using micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and neon ato
	m intercalation.\n\n![Jason](/resources/event-image/1842/e76821b_small)
