SUMMARY:NEUTRINO SEMINAR: First Oscillation Results from the NOvA Experimen
	t
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Louise Suter\, Argonne National Laboratory\n\nPart of
the Departmental Seminars.\n\nNeutrino physics is moving into a new era of
precision measurements.\nNOvA is part of this new generation of experiment
s aiming to answer the big remaining questions in neutrino physics such as
if CP violation exists in the neutrino sector\, the ordering of the mass st
ates\, as well as improving upon the measurements of the neutrino oscillati
on parameters. NOvA consists of two highly active\, finely segmented\, liqu
id scintillator detectors located 14.6 mrad off Fermilab's NuMI beam\, with
a Near Detector located at Fermilab and a Far Detector located in Ash Rive
r\, MI\, 810 km from the neutrino source. I will present NOvA’s first neu
trino oscillation results\, showing both the electron neutrino appearance a
nd the muon neutrino disappearance analyses.
