SUMMARY:Search for W’ Boson Resonances Decaying into a Top Quark and a Bo
ttom Quark in the Leptonic Final State at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV with the CMS Det
	ector
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Dylan Rankin\n\nPart of the Departmental Seminars.\n\
nDissertation Committee: Tulika Bose\, Kevin Black\, Shyam Erramilli\, Ema
nuel Katz\, James Rohlf\n\nAbstract:\n\nAlthough the discovery of the Higgs
boson in 2012 was a very exciting moment for high energy physics\, there a
re still a range of questions that remain unanswered\, such as the heirarch
y problem.\nMany theories of new physics which seek to answer these questio
ns postulate the existence of new particles.\nWith the start of Run 2 at th
e Large Hadron Collider at CERN\, the record setting center-of-mass energy
of 13 TeV has helped to improve our ability to explore these new physics mo
	dels.\nIn this talk\, I will present a search for heavy right-handed resona
nces decaying to a top and bottom quark\, performed using 2.2/fb of data co
llected by the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment in 2015.\n\nNo significant
excess of events with respect to the predicted Standard Model backgrounds i
s observed\, and resonance masses less than 2.38 TeV are excluded.\nThis th
e most stringent exclusion to date in this channel\, and the first search i
	n the channel performed at 13 TeV.\n\n\n![Dylan](/resources/event-image/154
