	f the Biophysics/Condensed Matter Seminar Series.\n\nAbstract:  Viable non-
	perturbative methods for lattice quantum field theories on\n  curved manifo
	lds are difficult.  By adapting features from the\n  traditional finite ele
	ment methods (FEM) and Regge calculus\, a\n  simplicial lattice Quantum Fin
	ite Element (QFE) Lagrangian is\n  constructed for fields on a smooth Riema
	nn manifold. To reach the\n  continuum limit additional  conter terms must 
	be constructed to\n  cancel the ultraviolet distortions. This is tested by 
	the comparison of\n  phi 4-th theory at the Wilson-Fisher fixed point with 
	the exact Ising\n  (c =1/2) CFT on a 2D Riemann sphere.  The Dirac equation
	 is also\n  constructed on a simplicial lattice approximation to a Riemann\
	n  manifold by introducing lattice verbien and spin connection on each\n  l
	ink. Convergence of the QFE Dirac equation is tested against the\n  exact s
	olution for the 2D Riemann sphere. Future directions and\n  applications to
	 Conformal Field Theories are entertained.
