SUMMARY:Universal entanglement and dynamics near quantum critical points
DESCRIPTION:Featuring W. Witczak-Krempa\, Harvard\nHosted by: Thomas Iadeco
la\n\nPart of the Condensed Matter Theory Seminar Series.\n\nAbstract: Quan
tum critical phase transitions\, such as the ones in the Ising and XY model
s in 2 spatial dimensions\, lead to strongly interacting quantum fluids. I'
ll first discuss how the entanglement associated with regions having sharp
corners\ncan be used to characterize such (conformal) fluids. Second\, I'll
examine their equilibrium dynamical properties at finite temperature. I’
ll show concrete results stemming from an interdisciplinary approach combin
ing field theory\, quantum Monte Carlo simulations\, and the holographic du
ality. Experimental predictions will be made \nregarding the charge respons
e near the superfluid-insulator quantum critical transition of bosons on a
	lattice.
