SUMMARY:Transient Orthogonality Catastrophe in a Time Dependent Nonequilibr
	ium Environment
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Dr. Marco Schiro'\, Institut de Physique Théorique (
IPhT)\, Saclay France.\n\nPart of the Condensed Matter Theory Seminar Serie
s.\n\nAbstract:\nWe study the response of highly-excited time dependent qua
ntum many-body\nstates to sudden local perturbations\, a sort of orthogonal
	ity catastrophe\nproblem in transient non-equilibrium environments. As a k
ey quantity we\nlook at the overlap between time dependent wave-functions i
n presence or\nabsence of the local potential\, that we write as a novel tw
o-time\ncorrelation function generalizing the standard Loschmidt Echo. We p
resent\nexplicit calculations for one dimensional fermions excited by a sud
den\nchange of the interaction and perturbed by the switching on of a local
\nstatic potential. Our results reveal an intermediate time regime where th
e\ntwo-time Loschmidt Echo features power law decay and aging. On longer ti
me\nscales the interplay between non equilibrium excitation of bulk modes a
nd\nlocal nonlinearity generates an exponential decay in time of the Echo\,
\nreminiscent of an effective thermal behavior. We discuss possible\nexperi
mental signatures of this quench-induced decoherence effect both in\ntransp
ort and in dynamics using non-equilibrium Ramsey interferometry\nschemes.\n
