	ter Seminar Series.\n\nABSTRACT\n\nOptical trapping\, driving and shorting 
	of small objects has become a\ntopic of increasing interest in multidiscipl
	inary sciences. In this talk\nwe show how the diffusion of small metallic n
	anoparticles in a liquid\ncan be tailored by illuminating the system with a
	 stationary\nelectromagnetic field. By changing the phase of the radiation 
	we can\ndecrease or increase the diffusion constant bellow and above the\ns
	tandard Brownian value [1\,2].\n\nWe also show how a chain made of these me
	tallic nanoparticles can be\nused as a resonant light sail\, attached by on
	e end point to a\ntransparent object and propelling it by the use of electr
	omagnetic\nradiation [3]. Interestingly\, there is a window in the frequenc
	y\nspectrum of the radiation in which a null torque equilibrium\nconfigurat
	ion\, with a minimum geometric cross section\, corresponds to a\nmaximum in
