	stract:\nAn overview will be given of some of the research on comb polyelec
	trolytes performed in my group at the University of Manchester [1\,2]. Spec
	ifically I will discuss the application of microrheology techniques such as
	 particle tracking microrheology\, optical coherence tomography picorheolog
	y and optical coherence tomography velocimetry to comb systems [3\,4]. The 
	development of scaling theories for polyelectrolyte comb dynamics will be d
	iscussed [5\,6]. The new analysis tools will be illustrated with examples f
	rom mucins (Muc2 and Muc5AC) [7]\, mucins combined with polyphenols from te
	a\, aggrecans [5\,8] and polystyrene sulphonates [9\,10]. \n \nFigure 1. Th
