SUMMARY:The Heart of Factorization
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Matthew Schwartz\, Harvard University\n\nPart of the
HET Seminar Series.\n\nAbstract:\nThis talk will review some elements of wh
at is known about soft-collinear factorization by various approaches\, and
why it is important. I will then give a completely general and manifestly g
auge-invariant and regulator independent factorization formula at the ampli
tude level\, which is proven to all orders in perturbation theory. This for
mulation makes explicit many implicit elements of pinch analyses\, provides
an operator definition of the zero-bin subtraction and leads to an almost
effortless derivation of Soft-Collinear Effective Theory.
