SUMMARY:Quenched p-wave topological superfluid
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Victor Gurarie\, University of Colorado - Boulder\nHo
sted by: Anatoli Polkovnikov\n\nPart of the Condensed Matter Theory Seminar
Series.\n\nAbstract:\n\nA few years ago there were several attempts to cre
ate two dimensional topological fermionic superfluid with cold atomic gases
using p-wave Feshbach resonance. These attempts did not succeed as it was
found that the p-wave superfluid's lifetime was too short for it to equilib
rate before decaying. I will describe our work studying the out of equilibr
ium evolution of a p-wave superfluid which is suddenly quenched close to re
sonance\, before the instability kicks in. We find that the superfluid reac
hes a steady out of equilibrium state\, which retains some of the topologic
al characteristics of the equilibrium p-wave superfluid.
