Abstract: "Quantum annealing on spin-glass system and its implication for quantum computing" -- First we will briefly summarize a generic non-equilibrium approach for studying continuous phase transitions we developed recently. Then we will talk about the implementation of this approach in the framework of quantum Monte Carlo algorithm, which leads us to imaginary-time quantum annealing. A clear distinction will be made between the simulation-time quantum annealing and imaginary-time quantum annealing. Finally we apply imaginary-time quantum annealing to a spin-glass system. The numerical result allows us to quantify the performance of quantum annealing, which shows worse scenario than the simulated annealing.
