DESCRIPTION:Featuring Fabio Franchini\, SISSA\n\nPart of the Condensed Matt
er Theory Seminar Series.\n\nAbstract:\nWe introduce the study of the eigen
vectors of a random matrix.\nTraditionally\, the requirement of base invari
ance has lead to the conclusion that invariant models describe extended sys
tems.\nWe show that deviations of the eigenvalue statistics from the Wigner
-Dyson universality reflects itself on the eigenvector distribution.\nIn pa
rticular\, gaps in the eigenvalue density spontaneously break the U(N) symm
etry to a smaller one.\nModels with log-normal weight\, such as those emerg
ing in Chern-Simons and ABJM theories\, break the U(N) in a critical way\,
resulting into a multi-fractal eigenvector statistics.\nThese results pave
the way to the exploration of localization problems using random matrices v
ia the study of new classes of observables and potentially to novel\, inter
disciplinary\, applications of matrix models.
