Boston University Physics Education Community

Welcome to the Buphy ECo website. We are a group of astronomy and physics graduate students who have in interest in all aspects of education. We seek to better ourselves as teachers and improve the teaching environment for graduate students in the Physics and Astronomy departments. Our group meets semi-regularly throughout the year to discuss long-term goals, organize programs within our departments, give presentations to one another, develop projects, discuss perceived problems, conduct tutorials, and relate news about upcoming talks from experts in education. We see ourselves as an active but informal group of grad students who are open to all ideas for improving teaching and education in our community.

The calendar link to the right will show you a record of past meetings. Meeting topics have covered a wide range, from a presentation on the No Child Left Behind Act to tutorials in introductory physics. If you would like to be included on emails about upcoming meetings, contact Rachele Dominguez at erdomi@bu.edu. Newcomers and occasional-comers are welcome.

Currently, we are beginning a mentoring program where new TF's can obtain advice from more experience TF's on their teaching. If you want to be available as a mentor or be mentored, contact Rachele Dominguez at the above email address. We hope that mentoring will not only help the new TF's who are just starting out, but also be a good professional development opportunity for mentors.
