From Boston's Logan Airport

On arrival at the airport take the free shuttle bus, either #22 (terminals A & B) or #33 (terminals C, D & E) to the subway station (the station is on the Blue Line).

Board an inbound train towards "Bowdoin" (or "Government Center" on weekends or late nights). There is a flat fare of $1.00 to most stations on the MBTA subway.

Change at Government Center to the Green Line; go up any stairs. On the upper level there are platforms on each side of a triangular plaza. Go to the one with signs for "B,C,D and E trains to Boston College, Cleveland Circle, Riverside and Heath Street". Take a "B"-train towards Boston College (occasionally labelled "Chestnut Hill Avenue" during rush-hours). Take the B-train as far as "Blanford Street", which is the first stop above ground (after Kenmore Station). Follow "Directions from Blanford Street" given below.

By Amtrak Train

Amtrak trains to Boston serve two stations, "South Station" and "Back Bay" station. Get off at Back Bay station, which is the second to last stop. Back Bay station has two exits; use the one nearest the booking office, on Dartmouth Street. After coming out of the station, turn right and walk approximately three blocks to Copley Square. You will see Copley Square on your right, and the Public Library on your left. Keep walking with the square on your right until you come to Boylston Street, at the other side of the Copley Square. Crossing over Boylston Street you will see in front of you the outbound entrance to the "Green Line" subway. WARNING! Make sure you go in the outbound entrance and not the inbound entrance next to the public library.

There are four subroutes on the Green Line, the "B","C", "D" and "E" lines. Take a "B"-train towards Boston College (occasionally labelled "Chestnut Hill Avenue" during rush-hours). Take the B-train as far as "Blanford Street", which is the first stop above ground (after Kenmore Station). Follow "Directions from Blanford Street" given below.

By MBTA Subway, Bus and Commuter Rail (the "T")

The closest station to the Metcalf Science Center is "Blanford Street", which is on the "B" branch of the Green Line, the first stop above ground after Kenmore Station. There is a flat token fare of $1.00 from most stations on the MBTA subway. For more detailed information on MBTA services, consult the MBTA website.

By Commuter Rail Trains from the north of Boston arrive in North Station. At North Station, follow signs for the subway station, also called North Station. Take any inbound Green Line train (the Green Line platforms are a fairly long walk from the station entrance). There is a flat token fare of $1.00.

Change at Government Center, the second stop after North Station, where there are platforms on each side of a triangular plaza. Go to the one with signs for "B,C,D and E trains to Boston College, Cleveland Circle, Riverside and Heath Street". This is usually the same platform that your train from North Station will arrive on. Take a "B"-train towards Boston College (occasionally labelled "Chestnut Hill Avenue" during rush-hours). Take the B-train as far as "Blanford Street", which is the first stop above ground (after Kenmore Station). Follow "Directions from Blanford Street" given below.

By subway. If starting on the Red Line, transfer to the Green Line at Park Street station (go to the "westbound" Green Line platform). If starting on the Orange Line or Blue Line transfer at Government Center (go to the "B,C,D and E trains" platform). In both cases take the B-train as far as "Blanford Street", the first stop above ground (after Kenmore Station). Follow "Directions from Blanford Street" given below.

By bus. From Watertown and Brighton, take the 57 bus to "Boston University East" (ask driver to point out the stop). From Central Square Cambridge and Dudley, take the 47 bus to "B.U. Bridge". Then walk five minutes along Commonwealth Avenue to the Boston University East T-stop (in the direction of the "Citgo" sign at Kenmore Square). Bus route CT2 from MIT and Kendall Square also stops at B.U. Bridge.

Bus routes 8, 8A, 60 and 65 serve Kenmore Square. From Kenmore Square walk ten minutes along Commonwealth Avenue towards the Blanford Street T-stop (in the direction of the trolley tracks). Follow "Directions from Blanford Street" given below.
